Are we still using the rider release forms that we used to use on rides?  If so, where are they now located so I can print off some for the next ride at Eureka.

The ride waivers from the former forum, although not required but highly recommended at least for the emergency contact information can be found here: http://backroadstouring.org/downloads/waiver.pdf

;) Oh no Will. You can take the lead, I'll be happy to ride sweep. Or somewhere in the group. I got a new iON video camera last Christmas. I'd like to vary my location and be able to get some video of the group. I'm sure it will be rookie video at best - but I gotta start somewhere.

I'm happy to ride sweep, too, just let me know! Gonna load up the gpx file over the next few days ah go from there. I'll have enough tools to handle most problems along the way.. including a tow rope!

Has anyone else looked at the 10 day forecast?  We are wet all week and 83% chance of rain the 29th.
The route south will be chopped to bits, due to the dirt roads on the south leg and possibly the field roads near Beaumont.
We may have to change routes and go north instead.

yes, the forecast is looking pretty wet. Harold, what are you planning?
I'm not opposed to riding in some mud or wet conditions. But riding in the rain all day isn't as much fun as it used to be.

Brings back memories of my first stampede.... I'd had my KLR for maybe a month... left my house in the rain. Rode to Eureka Lake in the rain. Forded two water crossings more then skid-pan deep, alone; just to get to the camp site (didn't know I could go around the other side of the lake), pitched my tent in 1/2 standing water... in the rain.

Did I mention it was raining?

Then there's the river crossing and drowned bike....

Will_KC, sounds like we might get to do another "MILE OF MUD".....not that there's anything wrong with that.  I'll be at that hotel Friday night and headed home Saturday night.  Looking forward to this ride.  It looks like it won't be boring.

What does the group think about the forecast? Can we find happiness on some routes going North as Will mentioned?  I am running Shinko 705's front and rear so my little Honda will be a handful in mud.

If the forecast is rain rain rain then we should go north.
Here is a link to my folder with the south and north routes.
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/nikwx2x4ljyjrny/AACzYZTl6nscpq0QZd_JsmE7a?dl=0

If we decide to go south, I propose reversing the route and do the western side first.  If we get hit with a storm, we can try to out run it going east for a bit.
Harold should remember our last run for the money!  Scary as all get out with lighting coming straight down right behind us!
