Hey everyone, so glad you all have found us, we're happy to have all onboard!
Now, we need to get to work growing this great group and this community and passion of ours! We need to be talking about it to like minded friends and encouraging them to do the same! We need to aggressively post and share rides and knowledge and help out the folks new to the sport in any way we can.

I've even said at some point I'm gonna hook up with some of you locally and go hang out at the local bike shops with our beautiful and interesting rides and spark up as much conversation as I can out there, hell it's all I talk about already!! LOL, and what's more fun than hanging out at the bike shop on a Saturday and talking bikes and checking out rides? Well, riding them but sometimes we cant make it out riding for some reason but can spend an hour or two talking about it! I'm in!!

Maybe make up some flyers promoting the new forum site and post them at the local bike shops? I'm sure the dealers will allow this without question! Maybe make up some business cards with site on it to hand out so they can remember when they get home?

Anyway, just thinking aloud here, please feel free to add your thoughts and ideas and let's build this sucker up to where we never have to ride solo unless we choose to, or never not have a buddy to give us a hand wrenching on our beasts!! Thanks for listening and joining in on the fun guys.....

I think flyers are a good idea.  If we can get people coming into dealerships thinking about dual sport or adventure bikes it could be a big positive for dealers.
I think the other place to beat the bushes is the other forum/facebook sites.  I know the KCMO Adventure group had a member map which I can't find anymore but there were about 4 other riders here in the Topeka area that I need to get to come over here.  One weekend, one of the members had a wrenching day at his shop for people who need help working on their bikes.

I'm friends with one of the managers at Cycle Gear- I bet we could hand out flyers at the Friday Bike Nights there.

Exactly! And we know they are selling these bikes already so I think it's a win/win!

We have had several people from the Ks/Mo Facebook page come over already, I think the two pages will work well together for all involved, just depends on where you want to ride on any given day! And the Mods and folks over there pretty much rock too!

I remember that wrench fest, I have also offered to do tire changing/wrench day at my place in Wichita as well! I have a 1500lb motorcycle lift table and a manual Coats tire changing machine as well!

Anyone on here familiar and proficient enough to design us some promotional flyers for the forum, Facebook page and group that we can print out and place at local motorcycle shops etc? I used to do band flyers many moons ago but my software and skills have long since gone into hiding...

I was thinking about posting this same thing today. You're two steps ahead of me, Woody!

Well, I'm no artist - but I've created a few flyers in the past. So, here is a first draft of a flyer. IT'S A DRAFT. Please give me some feedback so we can tweak it. Do we want a telephone number or e-mail address for additional contact? If so, who would like to be that person?

The mustang horse is a nod to Roger and the original group. He used the horse on all of the liability releases and stampede flyers for as long as I can remember. We can stay with it of move on to another identifiable symbol. It's the group choice.

A couple thoughts on it, we should probably not use the bar between Touring and Kansas because the difference between us and Roger's original Facebook page is that our page doesn't use this and his does. Same with our title I believe. On the web address shouldn't it simply be www.backroads.bike so they are directed to our welcome page? And somewhere I would also like to see the other logo incorporated, I think I have a picture of it. Thank you for taking the initiative to create this!

Woody, thanks for the feedback. It really helps flesh out what the group wants. Based on your comments and some re-think on my part I've got DRAFT #2 ready to view. Again, please give feedback.
You'll notice I changed the title. I copied the current home page title. I incorporated the sunflower logo from the previous site as well as continued to use the running horse. I also incorporated the home page picture and changed the website address. I also re-worded the lower paragraph some. Based on the flyer - if someone went to the website - they should be able to easily discern they are at the right site both from the title and the cover photograph.

Please share your thoughts on this 2nd draft.

Would that black outline show up on printed page or is that just to visualize the size? I actually like that too if it was a thin black border slightly inset from actual page size!

I put the black border around it to set the page apart from the white of the screen. It's built on a standard 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper in landscape format.

I think I used a 2 pt size for the border. I could reduce it to 1 pt for a thinner line. I will work on getting it set in from the paper edge. Let me work on that tomorrow and print a couple of hard copies to see how it looks.

If anyone else has some suggestions we should get them online. We may be closing in a final version.  :) After we get this done we can think about the business card idea.
