MSR XPLORER SUMMIT GEAR
« on: February 02, 2017, 09:47:37 AM »
If you guys are in need of some new gear- check out this combo set I found on atomic moto:
https://www.atomic-moto.com/MSR-Xplorer-Summit-Gear-Combo_p_4325.html

I ordered a set myself, and I'mr eally happy with the gear. They're ITB style pants with a couple zipped cargo pockets, as well as a sipped vent line on the thighs. I've yet to ride with them, but I'm super happy with the build quality.

The jersey is a good mid-wight deal with some mesh venting along the chest.

Pants fit true to size with enough room in the knees for braces/pads. Jerseys a little on the big size as well.. but theres enough room to put a layer or two on underneath it. If you wear armor under your jersey, I'd go up a size.

Those do look good.  Does the jersey offer enough protection to be worn without a jacket?

Its basically just a mx jersey, with a little extra fabric in the elbows- they aren't padded at all.  So, it really just depends on what level of protection youd' be comfortable with.

If you're gonna spend any considerable time on pavement- its not gonna protect you at all, unfortunately.

I bought a pair of those pants off e-bay recently. Well built and a good value for the money for sure. Plenty of room to fit over knee braces and the pockets are great too.

UPDATE - So, i'm pretty happy with the pants- they're pretty tough, and well made.  The jersey however, is very fragile. I snagged a small tree during a race on Sunday, and it quite literally almost ripped the entire left sleeve off. From the shoulder, down to my left elbow was ripped clean open. I only have a small bruise from the hit on my arm, so it wasn't anything unusually hard.

Oh well. For the above price, even just getting the pants for that amount is a pretty good deal.  I guess thats what I get for getting snazzy new gear, right? :)
