I would like one of the RV sites.  We will be arriving Friday with our motor home. Probably in the morning.  Do we just take an open spot?

I'll be around Friday morning to coordinate, but I'm going for a ride Friday to check my router for Saturday; probably want to leave by 10ish or so.

ALL FOUR WHEEL PARKING IS NOW FULL See update later in thread!

I just checked and the park is almost completely booked up. The only sites showing available on recreation.gov are Site 27 and Site 28, other than walk-in only sites 01-07 & 22-26.

It *MAY* be possible to upgrade from site S2 to site S3, which doubles the parking - but also costs almost twice as much ($140/night), but this is a pretty last minute change and I'm not sure that we can accommodate the change. Upgraded!

We clearly underestimated the turnout!

At this point if you haven't posted in the thread about truck/trailer,etc please do not plan on having parking available. If you would like to come, need parking, and have not posted yet, please post. If there are enough additional RV and Trucks, we can try to push through an upgrade on the site.

RV Spots are claimed for:
  • Pixurethis
  • Kingrider
  • DrJack
  • Rob Holt
  • Phil Denk
  • PhilB
  • BigO
  • Kertl

Truck or Truck & Trailer Parking Claimed for:
  • Ramkas
  • MDavidB
  • Jonestheadventurer
  • Will_KC
  • ste610ve
  • hbadventure

I have to call it full there because we need to save room for bikes, and the parking area is not very big!

I am planning to drive my truck with my bike in the back and set up my truck tent in the back of the truck, no hookups needed. I think this is the same area we have used in the past at CG and then we just parked the vehicles that didn't have a dedicated stall on the grass just off the gravel, I assumed that would be acceptable this time but maybe not?
I know park ranger opinions can vary.

It is absolutely not permitted to park on the grass, per the park rangers.

The gravel parking area is about 60x60 measuring from google earth. I think we can squeeze Burts' trailer and your truck Steve.

Got it, stay off the grass, I see that on the first post too, just forgot. Looking at the google map view of the S2 area of Canning creek maybe I'm remembering that there were some parked on the gravel but not in a dedicated stall, that will work. Thanks Nick!

Planning on attending this ride.   I have never ridden this area and am looking forward to it.   With the camping area full we will probably forgo the camper and try to find a motel for the night as we will be hualing the bikes due to time constraints.   Update us to a camping spot in light of the upgarded group camping.  Glad to pitch in on cost.  Thanks to the folks putting this together and making the upgrade as it will make life easier..  Looking forward to it.  SN

Thanks Nick. Kids wanted to camp. Despite my desire to utilize the Cottage Inn. If it is too crowded I can take my 6 bikes and truck/trailer to the hotel. Looks like this is going to be a great stampede! I pray the weather is on our side. Thanks for all you guys do. I might add if anyone is a guitar player, throw one in. I will be bringing a couple for after hours campfire fun.
There is absolutely no excuse for what I am about to do.

So if the S3 site is still available it would be $280 instead of $160, correct? So $20 a pop if we have 14 people willing to pay? And S3 has sewer hookups available. With the turnout it looks like we'll have that seems easily affordable, if it's possible to switch at this late date. I'm happy to pay whatever I need to, I rarely stay in a campground that's not at least $30 a night.

Myself, and one or two others will be coming but will be in separate vehicles. We will drive in, do the ride and head out afterward, no camping accommodations needed. Is there a place to park up to three vehicles to unload from?  If not can you suggest another location to park at.  Thanks.

Camping Update

Marc has upgraded the site to S3, which doubles the RV parking and more than doubles truck parking. We should have plenty of room now!

8 of 16 RV stalls are spoken for, and several people have asked after additional spots - please post here if you would like a spot so that I can make sure the count is correct.

Truck & Trailer folks - I think we should be good. There's a lot more parking in S3.

With the upgraded site I expect to have plenty of room for those hauling in just for the day.

I can’t figure out how to vote in the poll, but I’m coming and previously asked for the last rv site.  What time are you doing the scout ride on Friday? I will come Friday morning if there’s the opportunity to ride. Ken Ertl
