Is there a shelter house @ Swope? Steve has pointed out the small pavilion at the state lake. There is a two-holer located nearby. I will check with the owners at Mill Stream to see if their backyard on the river would be OK to use. This area is not sheltered, but is shaded.

Unless we hire in porta pottie company, relief stations will be marginal.

If ... we secure a venue, here's one option for those wanting a Saturday evening meal together. A catered BBQ meal. Would enjoy hearing back with your thoughts .....

We have turtle brownies for dessert that are $34.99 a pan (16 brownies).  We can deliver to Cottonwood Falls for a $25 delivery fee.  We can also set up, serve and clean up for $15 a person per hour.  Let me know if you have any further questions.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Is there a shelter house @ Swope?
Yes, they have a shelter in Swope Park, as well as a community building; but the community building costs $75/day with a $260 deposit - that feels kind of expensive.

The shelters are free, and as far as I can tell there are no reservations etc. I can't tell from the photos if they have electricity or not, but I do see a grill.

Looks like we'd be about $20 a head by my estimates for those numbers?

Yes, Nick ... that would be a close number. If we could confirm ahead, we could also look to reservations at Ad Astera up the road in Strong City ... http://kansastravel.org/adastra.htm?fbclid=IwAR1RCIlNnt3JAt42ExJILm48tYmaPGtZVmY_o97Lzuf1lMVfxy_CCtnsCr8

Several years back I brought my 15 year old son with only the Kansas learners permit and a brand new CRF250L showed up. Made MANY friends and so has my son! You will not regret exposing your kid to this group of Gentlemen! We have had MANY adventures since and it is something we both fondly look back at and look to the future for as he is going to K-State Architecture school in August. Daddy may have to visit on the ol DR! Regularly! Gear up and pin it! I find it a joy for families to share this hobby together.
There is absolutely no excuse for what I am about to do.

I'm having to really watch my costs this year because of the NMBDR. For me personally, I'd prefer to avoid the cost of a catered meal.

I haven't posted in 21 months but I just wanted to say that I will not be attending, very disappointing that this was set up on the same weekend as the American Flat Track Oklahoma City Mile. Cottonwood Falls sounds like a great venue. We probably will come to the Flint Hills and ride on our own another time this year.

As we draw closer to the Stampede ....

Who is still up for being a ride leader? Please message me directly on this forum. What will help is the type of ride: scenic / moderate / advanced ride you wish to lead. Routes are not needed at this date. I'll work with the leaders and provide attendees with event updates.

Am set to lead a scenic ride, route GPS mapped, and have added a flyover video to our FB BTKS page. I can't wait to ride and see this area again in June ....

Am pumped and ready to see and ride together again!

Darn it, June 21 is the OKC mile flat track. Already have tickets in the sky box.  Really wanted to make the Stampede this year.

So far .... the Stampede is still on. I will be checking on info from the Chase County website and commerce sites to see when the county is ready to take on visitors again. Once known, will post a "GO" or "No Go" on the event. Thanks for your patience ....
