Of all the areas we considered to hold weekend Stampede gatherings in the past, the two standouts were Council Grove and Eureka. They met the requirements for abundant scenery, ample lodging/camping, fuel ... and pies!

Pixturethis has taken the initiative to organize a weekend event in Council Grove. Kudos!

Who wants to do the same with Eureka as the venue?

I'm happy to ride both .... many unforgettable moments.

IMHO ... Roger

Looking forward to seeing everybody in Council Grove!

Ride Format for the event is a scavenger hunt, something new for us! It should be a nice change of pace.

Marc is organizing the event, but I'm organizing the hunt app. You can download the app ahead of time on the Play Store or iTunes App Store.

Here's how it works:

We'll break in to teams - plan ahead, ride with whoever you want! Teams won't be assigned or picked at the event.

Once unlocked, within the Bound there will be Stages, which can be completed in any order by your team. The Bound will unlock one week before the event, so you will have time to plan your route; but no early check-ins! Data will be cleared Friday morning, and you can start ticking off items!

Each stage is a location to visit and perform a GPS check-in with the app, and will be worth points. At the moment I have about 20 stages and 33 check-ins configured; and I'm planning to add a few more. I'd like to have around 50 check-in in by event time. If you have a location to suggest that is scenic, historic, challenging, or just plain fun to ride through, please send me a PM with GPS coordinates and a description!

Side Note - There are other challenges as well, such as questions and missions; this time around I won't have any of those - but I'll be gathering information over time so that there will be a few more types of things to do for future scavenger hunt events.

The idea is that they're spread out enough that one team can't get them all - you need to pick your route, pick your points, and your team will go get as many as you can! Keep in mind that some stages are worth more than others!

Results will be locked at supper time, then after supper Marc will award prizes for the teams with the most points!

Prizes donated by (in no particular order):

Looking forward to seeing you all at Council Grove!

Hey Nick, will you have a scoot for the event?  I'm planning to attend.  A question about the schedule, what time does it start on Friday?
I'm hoping to meet you in person there as well as many of the other posters.

I hope to have my bike back up and running but we'll see what ends up being what. I'm not sure about Friday, Marc is handling that end of things.

Nick,
If you refuse to shoot the KLR in the head, but it isn't going yet. Text me and I can bring an extra bike for you if you promise not to wreck it. Your a heck of a guy, and tough as boot leather, but i have ridden three group rides with you and you landed hard 2 for 3, so just saying. Odds wise my Xcountry BMW will get bent. but I will loan it to you if you need it.
There is absolutely no excuse for what I am about to do.

This will be a family event, Friday evening will be Ladies night in and around CG, and also some of the Scavenger hunt will start. Saturday will be the Scavenger hunt and Dinner served by the city of CG at there fairgrounds. Hotel and camping will be available for all attendants. Prizes will be given out from Mid America Powersports, Cycle Gear, Dan's Cycle and B&B Cycle Restoration.
Would like to has a poll to see how many are attending, the City of CG would like to know so they can have an understanding of how much food to buy us.

Thanks marc

Note from Nick B: Scavenger Hunt information.

This sounds terrific, Marc. I just made a reservation at the Prairie Lodge, I hope there wasn't a group deal we were supposed to use.  My wife will be with me but not riding.  She'll like ladies night.  Looking forward to this.  Thanks for putting it together.

Thanks for letting me know you are coming with your wife Roger, There isn't really a start time on Friday, guess when ever you decide to show up, we can decide on a start time when people arrive. I would say it would be afternoon, as I'm sure there will not be a lot of people showing up on Friday.

Start time on Saturday will be at 9am at the BP gas station, it is at E. Main (56 hwy) and 177 hwy.  this should get us time to eat breakfast at saddle rock cafe, if anyone wants. Great food there. I would like for all riders to meet at the BP to talk over what to do and to get a headcount as to make sure all riders come back.  Still working out dinner time.

Looks like there are 3 hotels around CG. The cottage house is at 25N. Neosho st. The other is Prairie lodge motel at 1219 old US Hwy 56. On the east side of town. And a small B&B off of Hwy177 south of H ave.  That would be north of CG about 10 miles. Hope this helps.

There are also some cabins on the lake for rent.  These are bunkhouse type with beds for up to 16 people.
