Mid-April Arkansas Ride
« on: December 29, 2017, 02:30:03 PM »
So, I thought I'd throw out an idea here. CMA is hosting one of their Roads and Trails Rally in Arkansas the weekend of April 13 - 15, 2018. Here is the specific information:
Arkansas North: April, 13 – 15, 2018 (Confirmed)
Location: Jack’s Fishing Resort, Mountain View, AR www.jacksresort.com
Camping / Lodging / RV
ATVS / Quads: YES
ORV / OHV sticker required: No

Rally Team Lead: Charles McCool, chili.mac@hotmail.com  479-495-0721

I'm planning to attend the event. At this time I'm undecided on whether I will haul down or ride down. A fairly direct road ride down there is going to be about 5 1/2 hours. So, this is my invitation to my Backroads friends to join me for a weekend in Arkansas. Leave a message on this thread if you have any questions or you want to go. We'll start making plans.

I stayed at Jacks for about 9 days a few years back! Great little resort right on the river with great rides in all directions!! Great choice....

Good Morning,
Sorry for the delay in reply - my computer decided to burn out the back light in the screen. It's really hard to get online when you can't see anything on the screen. So, with a new laptop it's sort of back to normal.

Yes, I'm pretty sure I'm going to camp. My reluctance is always, "what do the shower facilities look like?" Woody, what was the condition of the shower house when you were there?

Are you thinking of trailering the 250? I've only had three bikes on my trailer in the past. I'll need to see about getting 4 onboard. I wonder, would that 250 set in the back of my truck and get the gate closed?? Can you give me a total length from front tire tip to back tire tip. I'll do some measuring.

I can come up with a trailer for two/three bikes, (bigger if needed and someone can haul, perk of being Service Mngr at rental) Ma's lil Ford Ranger might be a bit light for that haul though....but this is far enough out and a place I would love to get to...gonna pencil it in and start working on plans. Should have the 250 broke in well enough by then.

Holy cow, Mountain View is where an old arky buddy of mine I worked with at AA in Tulsa is from. I remember him telling me he never seen running water or indoor toilet till he was 18 and joined the Air Force! Did say they had one light bulb. Gotta make this happen.  ;D

edit: Mountain Home rather...still same area though

I'll take you up on the offer for trailer space, I to do not have a truck to pull it though, maybe we can split the cost of renting one ?

i don't know where you all live. But I am in Garnett, I am "planning" on going down with two local garnett riders and hauling 4 bikes (2 DR's a BMW, and a CRF). My trailer is a 20' dovetail. And i have the truck to pull it! If you guys can come up with the wheel chock thinggies (official scientific name) so i can strap them to the trailer. You are welcome to throw in with us. I will have about 14' of extra trailer i am pulling anyway. But you got to get your stuff to Garnett, and get some chock thinggies.
I would even put any KLR's in the front of the trailer so they can feel what it is like to be in front of a DR, you know for their self esteem new experience kind of thing. Let me know. You know where to find me.
There is absolutely no excuse for what I am about to do.

I’d come up to Garnett. Can my klr 250 be up front ?? It’s never in front unless I’m leading the route.
