Kansas ADV route.
« on: July 08, 2017, 04:27:43 PM »
With the help of Clay Clark I have made a route from Marysville, KS, north of Manhattan down  past Cedar Vale to the Oklahoma Border. Look like a fun route, about 424 miles total.
I'm trying to get a link to the web page Clay has made on Googlemaps.

Ok, new plan.
Plan to leave from 63rd. and Rock road, head down to Grainola, OK then over to southern starting point of the ADV route. Head north on the route to Teter rock road, then back to Wichita. How does this sound ? Maybe we can go farther north than teter rock ?
So far mile count is From 63rd to Start of ADV route 92 miles, then 136 miles on the route with a gas stop at Cedar Vale. from Teter rock to Wichita is about 84 miles with a gas stop at Cassoday.

Looking at maybe doing this this coming weekend 7-15/16-17

We will be starting at the Kansas/Oklahoma boarder and riding up to Teter Rock, then most likely home.

Marc,

That looks like a good route. I cannot play this weekend. However, I'm planning to go over to Beaumont for breakfast on the 23rd. I'm going to plan on picking up the route there at Beaumont and go south to the State line. Thanks for working up the route.

Not a problem, but it isn't my route, it's Clay Clark's. I just put into base camp for my GPS.
I will also be at Beaumont.

Ran the first part of the route yesterday.  Started out at rock and 63rd with Marty Johnson at 6:30am headed south the the Oklahoma border, then east to the starting point. Headed north past Hewins and towards Cedar Vale for gas. Pasted Osro falls, water crossing, was a blast, had to go back for a picture, if you haven't seen this one it is a very cool crossing/water fall. After gas and a short break we headed north to 160 where Marty had to start heading home. I went on hoping to make it to Cassoday. Clay has pick many minimum maitanacne roads along the way, so it is really a fun route. So far I would say it could be done on any adventure/dual sport bike, as long as it hasn't rained lately.
Well I made it to 54 East of Rosalie. The heat was getting pretty bad, so I decided to head home.
Hopefully next weekend I'll get to start at the highway 54 East of Rosalie and go to Cassoday or maybe Mattfield Green.

Yesterdays ride went from Rosalia to Counsel Grove. Had a closed road sign, to bad would be a really nice part of the route, but found a work around. Went down some roads, as Clay calls them, I didn't see any path but still went on them, might make them an alternate for those that are really into it. There where weeds taller than I was, while standing on the bike riding ! Couldn't see the ground for parts of DD ave. Just puttering a long at a slow pace to make it by, still a good time, always good to see new roads.
On the way home found a good route to save the knobbies, all dirt from Cassoday to Hillside.
Next will be making the route from CG north to, I don't know yet. So far Clays route has been a really good route others need to take, about 60% low maintenance roads.

Man that looks like a good time!!  I've gone on a few of those roads where, like you said, the weeds are at eye level, even when standing up! That stuffs fun!

Headed out to finish the adv route this weekend. Hope to trailer up to counsel grove, then ride to the Nebraska border, camp for the night and ride back to counsel grove. Then home. If anyone wants to come just let me know.
Marc.
