4-23-17 Wichita to Elk City Ks Breakfast & Backroads ride!!!

I'm putting together a ride to the best "biker" breakfast buffet in Kansas ride for this Sunday! I'll post up more details when I get a chance later but tentatively I'm thinking 7am meet-up at Kwik-Shop near K-15 and 47th St. Sunday morning with kickstands up by 7:30am...

I'll have to double check but I believe I've got a great route laid out already for the return ride! The ride to Elk City will be all pavement as to get there before they run out of bacon!! The route back will be mostly backroads gravel through some pretty scenic territory! Probably a 200+ mile day..

It will be a bit chilly at 7am but warming into the 60's by afternoon so you'll need to gear up accordingly.

Hope a bunch of you will join in on this ride, I know myself, I have not been out near enough lately and this ride is always a great time!

There may be a few that ride street bikes down with us and find their own way home via pavement so feel free to join if that's more to your liking as well!

Also, please be prepared to provide me with emergency contact information for someone in the event anything might happen just in case!! Just a good practice to have on any group rides... 

Well hopefully the rain hasn't yukked up the roads too much for tomorrow, I think Wichita took the brunt of the storms, at least last night a lot of the area we will be on was in between two storm cells so I'm gonna remain optimistic that we'll be good!

It will be brisk at right around  40° At 7am tomorrow but warming into the mid to upper 60's so be sure to take that into consideration when gearing up in the morning!  50° by 9am I reckon...

At last count I had 7 riders confirmed and I personally have about 3 maybes also.. Will be my first ride with several of you and I'm really looking forward to having a great day in the saddle!

I've got a really cool and scenic return ride mapped out that will take us to Sedan and the near ghost town of Elgin right on the Oklahoma border with some scenic vistas looking well into the hills of northeast Oklahoma (thanks for showing me this view Phil Denk)....

Gonna prep the Africa Twin today and gather my gear and try to get some sleep in spite of my rising anticipation of a fantastic day!! See you guys in the morning! 7am at

Sounds like a great trip. A bit brisk, early and few more miles than I am prepared for this early.
