Well I'll add to this page since I think it's a pretty good idea!
David Woodward from Wichita, as of this writing I am 54 years old and have been riding motorcycles since the tender young age of 8.. My dad's boss had a couple Honda Mini-Trails for his kids in Rosehill and when my family would go hunt or fish with them they would cut us loose in a field across the street from their house! Hooked from day 1 and addicted every since..
Over the years I've owned over 40 different motorcycles with as many as 7 in my garage at once for a while. Currently I am down to only 4... Attended Motorcycle Mechanics for 2 years when I was 18 thinking that is what I wanted to do with my life, Entered the Motorcycle industry and worked it for a couple years until I realized during the winters they only held on to senior personnel and let us young ones go flip burgers till it warmed back up! Not gonna get ahead like that! Boeing here I come......
Anyway, the backroads bug bit me 5 or 6 years ago when I bought a used 1999 Honda XR650L (which I still have today) with the intention of making it into a Supermoto bike as I was always pretty much a sport bike guy. Somehow or another I stumbled onto a guy talked me into going out and riding with him on the gravel and the rest as they say is history! I LOVE THIS BACKROADS STUFF!!!!! I wish I had stumbled across it 30 years ago!
The original Backroads Touring Kansas forum introduced me to a lot of really great people and some great riding opportunities and living within 1/4 of a mile from Roger Baugh didn't hurt either I suppose? LOL So when Roger decided to retire the site I was one of the few that fought for and won the chance to continue the great tradition of spreading the word and promoting the sport of backroad riding that Roger started some 15 years ago. We really hope you enjoy the new site and and use it to it's full potential to get us all out there and riding and learning and swapping our BS out on the backroads of our region.....
Hope to eventually meet and ride with everyone on here but that's kinda unrealistic but you never know! Let's go make some dust!!
