What about a chat panel or pane for online users to use on the fly if they see a buddy online?

Been checking on this.  So far I haven't found a way that is mobile friendly and part of SMF.  I could probably link to an external chat or SMS system. 
Right now the site passes the Google Mobile Friendly test https://search.google.com/search-console/mobile-friendly?id=btgfgBSjmo7jd5vzt4zMDQ which is vital if we want the search engines to find us.

No problem, was just a thought, another way to grab a member while logged in for instant response but certainly only a luxury!

this could be a thing especially with such a small group as this. being such a specific forum i cant imagine a chat panel getting overly cluttered and difficult to keep up with like it would if it were a national interest group.

I checked all the chat mods on the SMF site, unfortunately the only one that's compatible with the latest version of SMF isn't free. Sorry.
