I Had laid out and pre-ran a ~180 ish mile loop in the case I needed to lead a group, and it worked out well that I did! My buddy Rob and my new freinds Brett and Mike hung around for me while I helped to clean up after the stampede riders meeting, and the four of us took off on a a pretty uneventful ride. All told, we put in about 185 miles, with a lunch stop at Billy Sims in Chanute!
We headed out of Eureka generally SE, and rolled up into the north end of Fall River Park, and played around on the paved twisties there. We rolled through the town of Fall River, and they were having some sort of a yard sale even on Main street- lots of people walking around and giving us thumbs up. We continued SE-S through Fredonia, and then generally started North and would un in Chanute for some pretty good BBQ. North of Chanute we found some really fun degraged two track, adn could have honestly played on that the entire rest of the afternoon.
We continued NW-sih to see the storms that were beating up Eureka in the distance. We saw many lightning strikes, and it was really quite a show. We decided to vee S, then dead West to try to and shoot the gap between fronts, and we rolled into Eureka at about 230, missing all ran, but showing up just in between showers.
All in all, it was a fun but luckily uneventful ride. We averaged around 40-50mph based on the section, and we all had a good time. Everyone took turns running sweep in the dust, i twas pretty bad the further west you went.
It was great to ride with my buddy Rob again, and new buddies Brett and Mike for the first time! Ideally we'd do more rough two track, but oh well, thats part of it. Thanks for coming guys! I have several pictures, and will work on uploading them in the next day or two.
