Les Donelson, Bel Aire, KS
« on: March 27, 2017, 12:33:56 PM »
Les Donelson from Bel Aire. Rode most of my life but took 20 years off to raise three kids. Got back into riding in 2004 and tried the sport touring craze with a Connie. Graduated to BMW RT and GT putting 150,000 miles on 4 beemers.  Ridden sea to shining sea and most of the good roads in between.  Took a couple of trips to Europe in the Alps and heading for the Pyrenees in Spain this fall.

Recently toured the Colombia coffee region con mi amigo in 2016 on a 1200 GS and just returned from Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego on an 800 GSA with the same friend.  Both trips were about 30% "off road."  I kind of like mild mannered adventures where I can ride a big adventure bike with little worries of them getting away from me in the mud or sand.

So naturally I bought a Honda 1200 X....doh.  Hopefully I won't miss the beemer feel. Time will tell.  I think I've ridden all the paved roads in central Kansas over the last 3 years and now I'm going to explore the roads I couldn't go on with the sport touring machine.

Wow Les- you've been all over!  Do you have any pics you'd be willing to share from any of those far away rides?  I'd love to go something like that, but I never really get around to planning it.. and just read other guys ride reports, haha!
Growing up is optional

Concerning pics, I recently finished a 100 page shutterfly book.  Probably a bit much for here! Here are a couple. I'll try to post something later .... [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]  [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

I'd like that as well. Seems every time that someone plans a trip I'm traveling for work or play!
