Lap Of Oz ..... 2017
« on: February 19, 2017, 04:08:51 PM »
Am very much wanting to complete this loop before Time catches up with me .... 7-10 days riding the KLX250S along the borders of Kansas, and as much off pavement as possible. Meeting people, recording my experiences in writing, and clicking away on the camera like a mad man. Broad brush strokes, sometime in mid to late June.

If you have room to accommodate a lone rider along his way, do feel free to respond here, or directly. Also if you have something to share along the perimeter, I'll ride with you!

Thanks, Roger

What an adventure!  Too bad I'm not near any of the perimeters.

That sounds awesome Roger I would really enjoy it mostly central/west south border and the gypsum hills. Hope to do that someday, but this year my daughter will hopefully graduate with a HS Diploma and an Associates degree in Washington state so, my time off this year is relented to that event.
Look forward to the report :)

I think Dave Hemphill and Larry Ostrum tried that a few years ago.  I think they had to throw in the towel in SW KS.  It's nothing I would want to do, but have respect for those crazy enough to try.  SW KS would suck fighting all the dry sandy roads and heat.

Roger- when are you thinking of doing this? Any idea of how many days it would take? I would LOVE to do something like this, right here in our our own backyard.

Sands fun, with the right equipment :)

Roger, if you are near Blue Mound, KS either Friday and Saturday night there is a high probability I'll be at my cabin.  You would be very welcome to stay the night.

That dropoff on the right looks like doozy! I'd hate to be stumbling around in the dark and find that!

Thanks for the offers, still getting plans together ... 55-70 hour work weeks this past Winter/Spring left little time for the more important things in life  :-\

At least the KLX will be getting new rubber, lubrication change and valve adjustment done this week, and am hoping to finally get this adventure off the mark and moving forward again.

Will do, Phil .... the KLX-250S is now ready for some extended backroads touring this season. After returning from MAP in Wichita, the 'significant other' asked what those rubber threads were coming out of the tires. I sheepishly explained that they were "fresh nipples" commonly found on new dualsport tires.  :o
