Box trailer for sale, $1500-SOLD
« on: July 15, 2019, 10:16:13 PM »
I have a single axle 6 x 12 box trailer for sale. Has a tongue box, ramp rear door, a side entry door, a spare inside and stab jacks on the rear. Tires are excellent and about 3 years old. Bought it new but never titled it (didn't have to in TN) it so it'll be bill of sale only. I was told by KS DMV as long as it was not used to haul over 2000 lbs it didn't have to be titled or licensed here either. Asking $1500. Message me if interested.

I thought the same thing.  A trailer does not need to be licensed as long as you don't hauling over 2000 pounds with it.  I found out that is not the case.  This is from the KS Highway Patrol website:  "Kansas law exempts trailers from registration if the total weight of the trailer and load being carried does not exceed 2,000 pounds."  The empty weight of a trailer that size is close to 2,000 pounds.

ajayhawkfan is correct. Having just bought one. That one little word changes things a lot  Trailer "AND" load cannot exceed 2,000. Stinks but its twue its twue.
There is absolutely no excuse for what I am about to do.

Thanks for the info, I will go by the DMV and see what I need to do to get a title. Meanwhile I looked up the GVW for my trailer, curb weight is 1195 lbs.
