« on: December 11, 2018, 06:44:40 PM »
The Arkansas 500 is happening April 12-14th.  I am thinking of signing up to go on this ride.  Curious to see if anyone else has ever done this event.  Looks like a good time.

Well I am signed up.  Now it is time to make a few more mods on the bike and buy a few more pieces of gear.

I talked to the wife a bit about going.  She is muddling it right now.  What is the typical donation for the ride?

I don't remember where you are located but I remember riding a group ride with you right after you bought that bike. Well I just bought one also and I bought one that was pretty pimped out. Have not ridden it much but so far I am in love with it! Ain't my 650, but on trails, it is nice! You are welcome to come check it out in Garnett before you spend money on farkles if mine has something you think you will want.

Nice bike, I had a green one just like that around 2005, I bet the extra lighting in the front makes a big difference at night.
I have been working on the mods over the last week.  I added 30mm risers, 12 volt power socket, tusk lock on heated MC Grips, Ram mount for Phone,  changed sprockets and adding a tool tube (I still have to build a bracket for it and mount it).  I picked up a new riding jacket, and looking to get some riding pants.  After those mods are all on and complete I think I will be close to having the bike ready, except for maybe new tires and different foot pegs.  The list could go on and on but you have to stop somewhere, I think!  Its kind of addictive and expensive adding mods to the bike, but I think they will be worth it.  I ride the bike to work some ,24 miles one way, and when it is cold out my hands get cold, so I hope the grips will help with that.

I appreciate the offer, and if I get up your way I will let you know.

to be honest I am not 100% sure what all farkles are on the bike I bought I haven't owned it long enough to know the difference. This is my first DRZ / KLX and I'm not sure what came standard and what has been added. The lights on the front are amazing I am now thinking of adding them to my old Dr although I don't like to ride at night ever. After being on it this weekend I will say I'm not impressed with that Cyclops front headlight shroud fitment is poor I don't recommend. Good luck to you and I'll see you on the trail.

A little update about the ride.  The area in Arkansas in which we rode was beautiful.  So many curvy roads in forested areas.  Several water crossings and multiple rough roads with very little traffic. The food was great and the sag wagon that they used was very convenient to carry most of the amenities a person would need. I rode Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  Thursday and Fridays weather was great but the weather got bad on Saturday,  started raining about 10 am and rained all day  sometimes very hard.  It ended up getting very cold and windy that night so I was glad that I left Saturday.
I plan on attending next year and also they are having another ride in September called the Bootlegger that I am interested in going on.
