2018 bmw G310gs

I’ve been eyeing these little gs’s all last year as I want something to replace my cb500x for my backroads ride. Tired of that dinky front tire falling into every crater. Found a used one with 500 miles on it in Texas and couldn’t resist. The baby gs has a 19” front, which feels much better than the x’s 17” , plus tubeless. I’ve owned the klx250s, Crf250l and wr250r which I liked all of them just didn’t want tubed tires anymore. Cast wheels shouldn’t be an issue for me plus the 310 has a bigger tank and a few more ponies than the 250’s. Now just need to get the knobbies mounted

That looks like about six miles of rear suspension travel!

Got the knobbies spooned on so I’m ready to ride, well almost, still need to find a proper skid plate.

Did you find a Skid Plate? I'm hoping you saw the Rally Raid skid plate, granted its more than just a skid plate and the price and shipping reflects that and more

Yes, I’ve seen the rally raid bits for the bike, had a Cb500x that I had rally raid skid plate and suspension upgrade on. I’m putting off buying a bunch of stuff for this bike until I’m certain I’ll keep it. The bike already has a recall for the side stand( it may fall off ). Dealer is 3 hours away !  I road the alpine loop first week of September with stock plate with no drama, it has quite a bit of ground clearance, just can’t bump over logs with the stocker.
Thanks for pointing out the rally raid stuff, their products always appear to be high quality.

I looked at the 310 when I wasn't having a lot of luck with finding a used WR250R. But I found a clean WR minus the swing arm which I replaced for $100 and I'm happy as a pig in mud
