I'm glad to see fuel injection on this bike!  I'm ready for some advanced features without going all the way to the level of a KTM.  Maybe, just maybe it's a sign the mid level bikes like mine will finally get fuel injection soon.
Thanks for posting!  That's a nice ride.

I emailed 3 dealers and only real reply was from Topeka which is the closest to me. They are now able to order them but can not confirm delivery date. 10% in October, 50% by December then gradual until 100% by March.
I have cash in hand and hope to get one of the first to land in state  :P

I have been in correspondence with Topeka Power Sports and they have 3 on order, no delivery date yet but Mike has told me that I have the first option. Since I receive and uncrate new Arctic cats, ROV's go-carts etc, I have asked to unveil my purchase from crate to street!  8)

Caint wait!!!!

Unseasonably warm day of 75 degrees today in Kansas so, I bailed out of work early for 50 mile romp off pavement. Technical stuff is few and far between in these parts so just some minimum maintenance roads in the Flint Hills. First time out of town and even over 6k RPM which gets you 55-60MPH. Anything under 5k she is a bit mopedish  @ 6k she just starts to pay attention and starts nibbling at the bit @ 7k. Hit about 8200 RPM/78MPH into a gusting 20-30 mph wind. Wind and loose gravel really make a difference it seems, at least compared to my KLR. She handles the gravel just fine but just dances a bit more and the wind does make a big difference in comparison. (it is a 250 after all)
Some small hills and a few jumps, she likes to fly, launches easily and lands like a butterfly.
Still getting used to a new machine and new boots and the whole 9 but, I have little doubt she is gonna be a fun ride!

It sounds like you're really loving that new scoot! I'm super pumped for ya! They're gonna sell a TON of those things! Is there a weight difference between the KLR and the KLX?

Not sure what the KLR weighs, manual says 304 curb weight on the KLX.

Pretty sure the KLR 250 is quite a bit lighter...one thing is no E start so figure a few lbs right there. I found info saying the KLR lbs 258 dry...(Marc could confirm).
It is surprisingly quicker than it feels...as in no real hang on factor but I hit 60 mph before I even know it until I glance down at the gauge. Just so quiet and smooth compared to my 650. (have to admit though I miss that hang on feeling when I took the KLR out last weekend)

This is where the fun is though and it comes through for me. I didn't just ease into this ledge up and down, I worked it pretty good for a solid 10-15 mins. I got air, I got the front to come up on command, I got the feel of a pillow landing....etc. Gonna have a blast tomorrow at Otter Creek!

First tank of gas, fuel light came on @ 93.4 miles (.6gl reserve). 115.9 miles took 1.75 gls = 66+mpg.
Yay!!! Peanut tank  8)

First "Farkle" left over parts from my KLR but who coulda known eh?  ;D
Plan on replacing the bars, most likely from bending these at some point...still I think it hits the mark.
Skid plate up next.

Wow, I didn’t know that they were right here in Kansas, had their skid plate on the wr250r that I used to have. Those look really nice.

Just rolled over 650 miles on mine and I am riding it like I am going to ride it! Happy spot is definitely 6-8k RPM. Had the pleasure today to ride some 5-6 miles of trails in Eastern Ks. Nothing super challenging but some dry creek beds with 10-15ft banks, some ovals, jumps and tight woods and the lil buggar will simply do anything I want it to.
I did reset my pre-load. Manual says to set sag 35-50mm (1 1/4"-2") I actually went about 70mm (2 3/4) since that is where my first adjustment got me and I dropped the air in the rear to about 11lbs. For the first time I actually felt the back tire hook up and was caught a bit by surprise as the handle bars nearly left without me :D I caught some pretty good air and still never bottomed, doesn't take much coaxing now to get the front up and over any log or lip. @120lbs myself I still can't get the front up on flat but I can sure get it lite.
