CMA Roads and Trails Rally
« on: September 15, 2017, 09:20:28 AM »
Good Morning,
We had a great time last weekend at the Roads and Trails Rally in Burlington. I want to take a moment to thank our supporting sponsors; Valnet Internet Services and the Alliance of Christian Churches in Burlington. Valnet provided bottled water and packages of Trail Mix for the riders to take. There were left overs that will be going to the Stampede this weekend. The Alliance of Christian Churches brought in donuts, juice and coffee for us both Friday and Saturday morning.

On Friday we had 9 riders on the dual sport ride and we covered about 220 miles. We hit Camp Creek Road through the Flint Hills, Coyne Creek and the Clements Bridge were also on our course of travel Friday. We ate lunch in Florence at the Town and Country Restaurant. The food was good, the waitress just a little sassy, which everyone enjoyed. That afternoon we made our way back across to Cassoday and the Teter Rock. From there we road up by Texaco Hill and back around to Burlington.

On Saturday we had 13 riders. We retraced a bit of our steps going back down around Texaco Hill for a morning stop at Teter Rock. Lots more horses were able to be seen. From there we made our way down around the 777 Ranch and some wonderful scenery and into Eureka for lunch. After lunch we made our way out to Rocky Ford. Unfortunately, I didn't forewarn folks about the possibility of the crossing being a bit slippery. The result was three slow speed slide-outs during the water crossing. No broken parts of bodies. Just some tarnished pride. My fault guys! Hopefully, we did a better job of coaching at the next water crossing.
We traveled some really nice roads making our way up around Virgil and easterly back to Burlington. Saturdays route was a bit over 150 miles.

To everyone that attended - thank you. We are already making plans for next year. It will be in the same location. We will run some different routes next year. The dates for the 2018 Kansas Roads and Trails Rally is September 7 - 9, 2018.

I will add some pictures in just a bit.
