When I go from the front page and say hit the suggestions forum thread, if there's no new content it shows me a blank page like:

Shouldn't it take you here then just differentiate between new and old with color differences like on front page?

I think that is something that theme does. I don't use it much anymore.  I like it on a computer but not that much on mobile.  I was going to modify it but it is very different from other themes I've worked on.
