May 6 ride report, Mini Stampede

May 6 ride report, Mini Stampede

Had a great ride based out of Eureka. Had 10 bikes today, Nick Bright riding a Kawasaki KLR, Frank Royse on a Honda CRF250L, Clifford Crites on a KTM 525, Dale Osborn on a Suzuki DRZ 400, Chay Hicks on a KLR, Jon Chappel on a Honda CB500X, Gary Russell on a KLR, Tom Rogers on a KLR, William Brentlinger (our fearless leader) on a KLR and Harold Rogers on a Honda XR650R. Rode south of Eureka, had stops at Elk Falls, Fall River Lake, Howard and Beaumont for lunch. Nick Bright and Gary Russell had the flat tire demons visit. Weather was great and it was a great day to ride.

Glad Nick made it home OK!
The roads were pretty good.  The nails, well.... not so good.
Lots of cows on the loose, water blockades and road graders stirring things up.
We are loosing quite a few jeep roads to private land holders.  We were cut off from many of my favorite trails.
I hope the others post some pics and vids!

Next time we are heading north and east!

Re-spoked my whole wheel Sunday, thankfully kingrider has the right tools for the job! We ended up using bolt cutters for most of the old spokes, after having to twist one until it broke.

While inspecting the tire before remounting, I found that when the tire went flat again, it was just another flat tire - found a 2-3" chunk of bailing wire in the tire!
